Love from Toronto

In my blurry state of waking from a nap yesterday afternoon, I awoke to the loveliest season greetings from a land far away!

“Hi my dearest!

Let me begin with I love you.

I am taking the time to write to the profound people who have supported and impacted my life over this past year of growth and transformation!

In case I have not said it enough. Thank you.

Thank you for your spirit and energy and sharing the villa and your beautiful broken heart at that time with us last year. Thank you for wanting to continue to be a part of my life even though we are worlds away from one another. Thank you for providing me with so much soul and inspiration through your words. Thank you even if there is much time between our conversations, for always returning and asking me how I am. Thank you for listening to me. Thank you for all of your support and encouragement and for relishing and accepting my deeply rooted sometimes wise ways along with my silly, playful goofy ways. Thank you for believing in me and sharing it with me often. Thank you for listening. I hold and provide space for a lot of people, so it means a lot to me when somebody just takes the time to listen.

I am so proud of your spiritual growth over this past year. I am so proud of your revelations and understanding about yourself in relationship. For your divine appreciation for your alone time. For your travels and romantic escapades. For your wisdom and yoga practice. For this beautiful job that you manifested for yourself as you merge your love for style, travel and professionalism with your gift for words and perspective in seeing this truly magnificent world and sharing all of your questions, emotions and details of your existence with so many of us through your blog. You are growing into this rooted calm woman. And although our time together was epically brief, it will forever charge through my spirit as a rush of excitement, honesty, playfulness and adventure. While it is true, I do not spend massive amounts of my time reminiscing in the effort of staying truly present, I can say that each and every part of my physical body, my mental body and my spiritual being remembers and is nourished by the names Yilian and Bali. The two will forever be connected in my sense memory and forever grateful for your generosity during this time of finding my way back to my feminine wild and the Divine Feminine as my roots!

May this year bring you much balance between this new found job and the delights in your desire to travel, explore, eat good food, meet quality friends whom you can share all of these spiritual revelations and your growth in person with! May your deepest desires, whatever they might be, however they likely are changing find their way to you effortlessly. And may you remind yourself oh so often that this is all just an experience. The goal is not one of happiness or sadness. It is simple a cycle. Constant cycles present in every area of your life. Ride the cycle. Enjoy. And know that at the end of the day, you want a FULL experience. It is the fullness and the reverence for the ups and the downs I am learning by which this acceptance, understanding, calm and peace for this crazy sensation that we call life is able to find its way to us!

Blessed be my kindred spirit!

Love Always,

Becca”

And it made me so, so happy. :D

Merry Christmas guys!!! Hope you are winding down to the festive period. Meanwhile, I’m running around town like a headless chicken, trying to get the perfect gifts for the 20 people on my list. So tonight, I’m gonna do a final round with the best pal in town and order “HAM” (only close pals will get the joke on this…) before tomorrow, which is apparently the last day to order.

And at work, Feb 2012 issue is closed and immediately, I’m feeling the heat from our thick March 2012 issue! Hong Kong and Bali to look forward to next month!!!

Of bows and presents

Whee! I managed to lay my hands on the Kate Spade bow ring I’d been obsessing over. It was initially all sold out in both HK and SG and when I saw its availability online, Germs told me she just ordered a shipment of a couple KS bags and I was close to bawling. I wasn’t read to pay a US$20 shipping for a ring that costs US$65 so I thought I should just give up on the lust.

But I thought I would try my luck anyway and dropped the PR manager an email to ask her to kindly keep a lookout for me if it ever comes in again. And yesterday I returned to the office with an email from her that was over a week old, informing me there was stock in my size!

I immediately replied to her and she promptly reverted with a “there’s only one left in the whole of HK!” I sped down after work yesterday only to find out the one they reserved for me wasn’t in my size and I was starting to panic when the lovely salesperson told me they would send the right size to the outlet at my office building today instead.

So after all the drama, I’m finally the proud owner of the adorable bow ring!

And the little box it comes in is so, so lovely as well!

Anyway, I promised to put up the pictures of the Christmas gatherings I had with my makan girls and BADSP(Y). So here they are:

Meeting this group of girls was the first on my agenda when I returned to SG and it made me so happy when I saw the spread of local hawker fares on the lazy susan on PF’s dining table. I was grinning to myself! Of course, their company was always fun and hilarious and being able to see Kristy again is always a benefit!

That girl got a little enraptured by my Chloe flats that she wore it everywhere in the house. I was hoping she could assist in expanding the flats by half a size but ah well! One can only wish. I should go get those shoe expander thingamagjig but where can I get them from?!

I also got Kristy a casual tee and shorts tee from H&M and the girl obviously likes it! I was super stoked when I saw her hilarious reaction:

The next day was spent with my girlies (yes, we call ourselves BADSPY. Totally haps name). It was an arvo at Riders Cafe where we spent more than half our time tearing through gift after gift and accumulated a huge bag of wrapper trash. Yes, I felt rather environmentally guilty. That’s why I didn’t wrap all the gifts, pals! I was being environmentally conscientious. Not lazy. Hur hur hur. But having said that, I love love love the wrappers Belle used which she got from WoodWould.

It was really fun cos we all got pretty swell gifts for each other, which wasn’t too tough, seeing how some of us requested blatantly what we wanted and how damn well we know each other’s tastes. But the pressies were sometimes so swell that we would become jealous and asked: “Why I don’t have???” instead and the said gift-giver would be like “erm…” Awkward! Actually, not really. We didn’t really care.  it was actually more like “you like it? Ok, sucks to be you!!!”

We also went through the stash of H&M baby clothing we got for little Sophie, whom we visited after lunch. The girls were all “aww”, “I want!” over them. But it’s true, looking at those adorable baby apparel, it makes me wanna have a baaaabieeee just to see how he/she looks in those clothes!

It was my first time at Riders Cafe but it’s how lovely! Food is yums. Or rather, looks yum, seeing how I didn’t eat anything there. I was still queasy from the night before when Matt brought me to St. Regis for the buffet dinner and  after a couple of oysters, I felt really physically odd. Matt told me to go barf it out but I HATE the puking feeling so I refused to budge but like one teenage bulimic to another, Matt encouraged: “Go ahead and just let it out. You’ll feel better (skinnier?), I swear.” Even in the midst of my discomfort, I couldn’t help but burst out laughing in the posh setting of the restaurant.

But yes! Riders Cafe is naice! And very affordable! Albeit rather hard to get to. We had fun checking out the horses after.

Bern and Sue got me a nifty grey snood from CK Calvin Klein, which I absolutely love! I’ve been wearing it for two consecutive days since I started work on Monday and it’s perfect for the current 16 degree Celsius weather in HK. Daph got me a really cool key ring from Prada. Pom got me the Topshop belt I really wanted and a Lust, Caution DVD (Tony! Naked!), Belle got me a fashion-y book and the most hilarious gift I’ve got this season:

HAHAHAHA! It’s so silly but I love it!!!

Matt? He got me the Sennheiser noise-reduction head phones I’ve been wanting for years but too penny-pinching (OK, I know it sounds like an irony) to part with the money! It works like a dream though. I tried it on the flight back to HK from SG and it actually helped me sleep a little better on the plane!

And just cos I love them to bits and pieces and wanna end off the entry with a photo of them, I got Kiks a purple tutu skirt and Seth a dinosaur singlet from H&M, amongst other stuff. They both absolutely love their pressies that they wanted to put them all immediately and would only remove the new clothes after much coaxing! Kiks went twirling around non-stop while Seth went on his roaring act:

Our awesome Bali vacation

It sometimes amazes me how much fun I get to have whenever I’m with Matt. I guess at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter where you are. As long as you have fantastic company, you’re set for a great time!

This week-long trip over Christmas was pretty ordinary, if you ask me. But since it ended till now, I couldn’t stop thinking of it. Not so much the place, but the conversations, teasing, little moments Matt and I shared. One of my favourite moments are the nights where we popped a DVD into Matt’s mac to wind down before we snoozed. We managed to watch 500 Days of Summer, Julie & Julia, Astroboy (no prize for guessing whose choice is this), 2012, District 9 and The Hangover. And surprisingly, that boy even enjoyed 500 Days of Summer and Julie and Julia!

Even though this was my third time to Bali, I saw more of the island than I ever did. We did the volcano climbing, checked out Tanah Lot (the famous temple), Git Git waterfall, hot springs and had long drives in the car and bike riding along endless padi fields.

I know it sounds rather tedious but I’ll really recommend anyone who’s heading to Bali to trek up (guided, of course!) one of the three active volcanoes on the island. We went for Gunung Batur, which was 1714m high. Matt wanted to catch the sunrise so we set off from our resort at 2:30am (I KNOW RIGHT?!) and I barely managed any sleep the night before as I kept thinking it was time to wake up!

We were climbing by 3:30am and got to the viewing area by around 5am, alongside 30 other tourists.

At about 5:15am

Whee! My first sunrise in years!

However, the boy just wouldn’t gimme a break. He insisted we go all the way up to the summit and I was thinking: “Heck, I’d already came this far, may as well!” But damn, the ascent to the summit was such a tough bitch! The path was extremely sandy so I kept slipping and it was also narrower so I had to fight back my fear of falling over the edge.

But you know what? It’s sooo worth it. The view up there, even though just a few hundred metres higher, was so much more breath-taking than where the rest of the tourists were. Despite my swearing at Matt throughout the ascent and descent, I’m so glad he made me do it! Hahaha, sorry baby!

Kinda reminds me of the cliff in the animation 'Up'!

Right on top

Even though the descent wouldn’t make you pant your way through compared to the ascent (or maybe it’s just me…), it wasn’t easy peasy either. My limbs and back were totally intact after I got to the summit but it was the descent that killed my heel arches, ankles, knees, hip joints and lower backs! The impact the steep steps caused had me wincing when we arrived back at the resort.

Funnily, we managed to make it back for breakfast at the resort, which made Matt pretty stoked. Then it was shower and hitting the sacks right after. Exhausting but I loved the entire experience! It was only US$60 per pax for the guided climb and they fed us quite a bit too.

The best part of the experience was actually the young 18-year-old guide. His knowledge was pretty amazing (I’m talking about politics, religions and history of different countries!) and he was so hungry to learn. Every time he said something unfamiliar in English, he would check with Matt and I to ascertain he pronounced it right. And most of the time, he was correct to start with! Spending so many hours with him was a pretty humbling experience as well. We shared our backgrounds, which made pretty interesting conversations, given I’m Singaporean, Matt’s Australian and he’s Balinese.

Moving on, Matt and I hired a car and driver to bring us to the touristy spots we wanted to check out the next day. Matt got his Git Git waterfall and hot springs while I got my Tanah Lot temple. The long car rides gave us loads of time to chat, laugh, fight, make up and debate. Methinks it was pretty hilarious listening to us but thankfully, the driver seemed to block us out pretty well for the entire day.

We got back to Ubud at around 7pm, caught dinner and went back for another movie! Anyhow, if you’d read Eat, Pray, Love, you’ll know that 1/3 of the book was based in Bali and Lonely Planet highlighted the shop of Wayan, a friend the author Elisabeth Gilbert made when she was in Bali. It was in Ubud and I wanted to check it out but apparently, it shuts at 6pm everyday so no chance! Apparently, if you want to visit Ketut Liyer (the guru Gilbert consulted when she was in Bali), all you have to do is ask around in Ubud. Lonely Planet says everyone in the town knows him! Haha, cheap thrill.

Before the strenuous (eh hem) activities above, we actually lazed and chilled our way around Seminyak, Kuta and Legian for 4 days. We got a scooter (S$8 for a day! And petrol’s S$1.50 for a day!) and just went around the south of Bali for two days. We pretty much knew Kuta and Seminyak like the back of our hands by the end and knew where to turn, which road is a one-way, etc. We got massages every day for 4 days, read, swam and tanned by the pool in our villa. The boy managed an hour or two of surfing while I just sat on the beach, doing and thinking of nothing.

I really enjoyed the vacation and there’s nothing I would change about it (yep, petty fights included!). I returned feeling very much rested and loved. :)

Now, when and where is the next one???

Greetings from Singapore!

Haiiii!!

I’m sitting at Starbucks with Matt’s fancy machine while I wait for him to finish his gym session and am catching up on all the twitter and FB updates. Bumped into Aaron (Kong) as he was heading home and caught up for a bit while he dished out some Bali restaurants tips.

The past weekend has been a whirlwind. Got back late Friday night to some major packing (stuff for the Bali trip) and unpacking (all the Xmas pressies) then Sat was a gastronomical brunch session at Peifen’s (Hokkien mee! Chwee kueh! Fried black carrot cake! Carrot cake sticks! Roti prata! Fried beehoon! I was in Singaporean food haaaaven).

Sunday was brunch with the girls at Rider’s Cafe then visiting the cute little Sophie at Debs’. We spent a good 90 mins in Rider’s Cafe doing our individual gifts exchange and we swore everyone in the venue was envious of us. Hahahaha! Well, we all got pretty swell gifts from each other, especially since we all know everyone’s tastes pretty well! Then we headed to Debs’ to ooh and aah over little S. She’s such an adorable wee little thing!!! I had one hell of a time feeling her little tummy under my hand. Mmmm…

Then home to see my two little darlings! They were glued to Gor’s laptop watching Monsters and Aliens. I was feeding Kiks and after a while, she was like: “I don’t want any more lunch (dinner), thank you very much Yi yi.” Prissy, prissy.

And Seth was on drugs that night. He was behaving like a cat and played with a bunch of messed-up black thread for a good 45 minutes and was laughing and yelling away on his own?!?!

I also got the kids some early Xmas pressies from H&M. Kiks got a pretty tutu purple skirt while Seth got a top with a dinosaur print. They both loved it and didn’t wanna take it off. Didi went around the house roaring at everyone like a dinosaur while the drama girl couldn’t stop twirling around.

I got pics! But dun have the camera with me now to upload the images now, so gotta wait!

This morning was catchup with my two fave boys (other than Didi and Matt), Ed and Joel over beef noodles and desserts. After they took off, I headed to Actually… and thank god they didn’t have any interesting stuff from Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair so I stepped out of the shop, unscathed.

Then off to Topshop I went and burnt more than $100 on tights and leggings. I live in Hong Kong, hmmkayyyy…

Then on to ION Orchard to check out Nespresso. I was thinking of getting one for Matt for Christmas but they all looked so tough to dissect! I continued to browse around the mall, entered YSL and after a short period (erm, maybe just 30 secs and one look in the mirror to be exact…), I got myself my Christmas pressie (hee, gotta find a reason to justify it)!!!

OH! OH! Meanwhile, you totally have to check out Seth here. He’s sooo cute!

OK now, where’s that boy? It’s 9pm now and I’m starving!!!

One more day…

before I start my vacation! My luggages are all packed (since 2 days ago) and I can’t wait, can’t wait! I know time flies when you’re having fun and it’ll be over before I know it but I’m just gonna relish it when it lasts.

Gonna have one hell of a headache tomorrow when I attempt to lug my two suitcases and two carryalls (I swear I’m a light packer! It’s all the Xmas pressies!) to catch a cab. Thank God it’ll be a freezing 10 degree Celsius tomorrow so I wouldn’t need to sweat my bum off.

It’s just 8 more days to Christmas, 15 days to 2010 and a month till I turn 27! Wow, where did the year go?!

And just in case I didn’t get to say Merry Christmas while I’m in Bali this time next week, Happy Holidays!

(Images taken from the windows of Lane Crawford and blur model in the left pic, courtesy of my molely pal.)

And just cos I’m in my spastic, morbid humour mood, you gotta watch these clips from the creator of Family Guy and American Dad! F%*#ing hilarious!!!

And this is my favourite, just cos I lurve lurve Super Mario! Hee

Watch them with a sense of humour and leave all diplomacy behind!

In the meantime, I’m gonna potter around my tiny flat being all excited about my vacation and nervous about seeing Matt (yes, I, erm, do still get shy around him sometimes hmmkay!) tomorrow night.

Night pals!

Xmas Day dinner & gifts!

I arranged for a damn last-min Xmas dinner with a couple of friends on Polly’s rooftop. She has very generously allowed me to use it and I’ve to say, I continue to get awestruck by the loveliness of the rooftop and its view!

The rooftop and its view captivated the guests.

Matt bought a chicken (couldn’t get turkey!) and prepared fruit platters. He also got A LOT of beers. He bought about 15 bottles the first night and Saraid (Matt’s friend who stayed with us during the same period as Matt was around) bought about another 15 bottles the next trip to City Super.

While they were contemplating what to get, I started to feel bored but when Saraid mentioned we should get beer bottles with nice packaging so I could keep them as vases, I had a rekindled interest in what beers they were getting. And I was happy that they went along with my form-over-function decisions.

But now, I have 12 bottles and cans of beer in my flat. What the hell am I gonna do with them? I would never drink alcohol on my own accord. Gimme my School Bus anytime. Matt was happy though. “Just wait till the next time I get there!” So much for his new year resolution of not drinking…

We were out on Kowloon on Christmas Eve when my colleague Louise called and we had a quick chat. She told me there were a lot of pressies waiting for me on my desk and she got me so excited that I asked Matt and Saraid if I could go to the office to pick up my pressies. And there were six of them! I was such a happy bunny.

We then checked out Fitness First in Harbour City. It has a great view of the harbour and there was even a Fitness First Spa! Matt then spotted a cigar store and browsed for one to puff on during Xmas. How uncle. I kept asking him if his mouth’s gonna smell bad but I guess we were sorta even cos I took many puffs as well – only to have the thrill of seeing smoke coming out of my mouth, which I didn’t manage to at all. Sucks.

How very jangster

How very jang-ster. Matt channelling the Italian-mafia blood in him.

It was a simple but really nice Xmas gathering. Ray, Alvin, Lita & her friend, Mark, Joshua and Zi Kang all came but Esther and fiance didn’t manage to cos she was run down. There were about 10 of us and it was a nice number. I made them played Taboo for a bit, which turned out to be so much fun. Ray, Alvin and Zi Kang were damn good lah! Matt was just good at cheating.

It was nice to see Mark in HK and we managed to catch up a little bit. He’s always such a sweetheart, always concerned about his friends. He told me, “I got quite scared seeing the way Matt drank!” and I was “Huh, really?” cos honestly, he didn’t drink that much. I think. I just brushed off his concern, saying, “Aussies lah.”

And while Josh and Zi Kang were around, I called Sue knowing that Daph was at her place and Karen so they could all catch up a bit and say “Merry Xmas!”

Matt, Saraid and Mark

Hee, I must have been a good girl this year cos I got loads of pressies from everyone and these are what I got from the girls:

And then more Godiva and Royce chocolates from Lita and a few colleagues. And more chocolate bars with fancy packaging from City Super from myself. So many chocolates – so stoked! But can’t have any now. Want to be completely well in two days’ time for New Year Eve and the weekend that follows!

Matt & my 1st Xmas

So the days I had so looked forward to came and went. Sigh. Time really flies when you’re having fun. I picked Matt up at the Airport Express station and grinned as I saw him. He was actually wearing a jumper and sneakers! What a rare sight from his usual singlet, boardies and flip flops.

He was excited about seeing my flat for himself and I was happy when he was going through every hook and cranny. And seeing him in my flat – it definitely makes the place felt more like home.

He was impressed at how I’ve quickly turned the place into a cosy home and as he said it looked like I’d stayed there much longer than two weeks!

It was a nice and simple first day. I brought him around the neighbourhood and first place was Cafe O where the School Bus smoothie had also very quickly became Matt’s fave smoothie of all times.

We then popped down to Pure Fitness. See where Matt’s priority lies – he would get a tour of every gym in HK if he could. After a quick tour of the gym in Soho, the sales manager gave us a three-day pass each and guess what, I went to the gym two consecutive days for the first time in three years (not the consecutive part, just the whole gym part).

Pure Fitness on Xmas Day. Yes, we went to the gym on Xmas Day! -_-

It was good being able to go to the gym with Matt as he could customise the workouts I should do, given my scoliosis – to strengthen my core and the other parts I want to define. It’s like having my personal trainer for free! Woot!

So by the next day, I was aching EVERYWHERE. I found out I had muscles I never knew existed. And it’s NOT GOOD when you stay at the Mid-Levels and you have to go down the bloody slopes. OH GAWD. But surprisingly, they were all gone by the third day. It normally takes me a week to stop aching. I must be doing something right?

As usual, the gym was dominated by males. And while I was doing my own exercises, I kpo-ed and looked around. I mean, that’s natural right? And those guys who grunted and groaned when they lifted the weights, gawd, it’s so funny! I had to look away to stop myself from bursting out from laughter.

Thank God Matt doesn’t do that. It could really be a turn off. I actually enjoyed how I felt after the gym sessions so much that I kinda miss going now. I know right, coming from me. O_o

As I had hoped, Matt was completely charmed by the neighbourhood. Just like mine, his fave part was the quaint restaurants everywhere. He also like  how he could potentially see the Mid-Levels slopes as a good workout facilitator. That I don’t agree.

After a trip to the supermarket for grocery shopping (where Matt bought like 10 diff types of beers just cos they cost just an average of S$2 per 500ml bottle), I made a Chinese dinner for us.  Matt was impressed that I’m eating healthier and saving money by cooking at home regularly. I’ve to say, I’m pretty impressed myself. But what to do! Have to take care of myself and pay rent every month!!!

We also went shopping for the flat and it’s nice seeing how Matt has suggestions for this and that. He also bought numerous stuff for the house. I like how involved he is, definitely feels like I don’t leave alone. Although I do, technically. :(

It was so good, having him around. Just him and me doing simple things together. Cuddled up into bed, trying to warm up under the doona and watching The Love Guru together. The next evening, we ushered in Christmas quietly on Polly’s rooftop. It was so beautiful, peaceful and may I just say, romantic. :) I had my jazzy Christmas tunes playing on my MacBook and it felt like a date.

We then spent the next morning haunting for a good breakie place and found one which I forgot the name. Food’s great but smoothie’s still not as good as Cafe O’s.

We’ve also finally dined at the Vietnamese/Thai restaurant in IFC Mall called Lian. Yipee! Great food but relatively expensive and the service was only so-so.

Matt left this morning and damnit, I hate separation. I can never stop the sniffles and tears from coming but no denial that it does get easier every time. But still can’t help feeling sad and sore on the way back home. :(

Every time Matt and I spent time together, it’s so hard not to fall for him a little deeper. He dotes on me so and spoils me silly. It does always make me feel really loved when he does the smallest stuff for me. I could get used this. But a part of me likes it when I’m all alone, my independence makes me feel anything is possible. I love that I get to enjoy both extremes and I hope I don’t ever take either of them for granted.

I should really get to bed if I wanna beat this cold of mine and prevents it from turning into flu. Sigh.

Hope you had a blast for Christmas and hope the new year will be even better! :)

The simple but enjoyable weekend

It was a simple but enjoyable weekend. But a big part of me suspects the wonderful weather has a big part to play. Anyhow, on Friday evening, all my outstanding work for ’08 were done and submitted and I went to bed, satisfied and happy.

I woke up at noon on Saturday to Matt’s sms, got up and went for my usual (it’s becoming a regular weekend thing!) all-day breakie at Cafe-O with my work laptop. I sent out a few emails for work and researched on pilates studios in Central. I found 3, wrote down the addresses and made a mental note to check out all 3 places.

I then walked down the road to Japan Home, grabbed some more stuff for the flat, lugged the bulky stuff home without attempting to hail a cab. I then cleared the flat some more, hoping to make it as presentable as possible by the time Matt arrives next week.

By the time I was done, I was wondering what else to do. I suddenly felt lost that my flat was as done up as it could possibly be and all my work assignments were completed. I didn’t know what to do. I was free and I actually didn’t quite the feeling. I mean, I like how I wasn’t burdened by anything in my mind but it just felt so aimless. If only I have all my jewellery material with me, at least I could churn out a few pieces for myself. :/

My boredom made me sleepy and I took a 90-min nap before meeting Polly for a Thai dinner in the neighbourhood. We then met one of her friends for drinks and called an early night at midnight.

Woke up today to meet Ray and Esther for lunch in the neighbourhood. I really love how convenient it is to stay at the Mid-Levels! And I still haven’t gotten sick of coming down the steep slope and having all the sights and people to take in every day.

We had lunch at a cha chan ting that was apparently quite famous but Ray and I were not too impressed. But well, at least it was cheap. We then went to On Lan Street cos Ray needed to find a gift at Commes des Garcon. Nothing interesting so we popped into the Martin Margiela store next door. Loving the decor. Ray and I stepped out into the balcony on the top floor and imagined we were king and queen, greeting our ‘people’.

I also managed to check out a pilates studio called Iso Fit at D’Aguilar Street with them in tow. The studio was closed due to the festive period but we managed to look into the interior and I’m loving the way it looks! Gonna come back in the new year.

I’m not sure why but I found myself constantly in laughter with Ray and Esther together. They are such great fun. We did spastic stuff and said spastic things and were just very tickled by everything we saw.

We also spied two TVB vans along Wellington Street and I spotted this dude who always act as the villain in drama series! I squeaked excitedly to Ray and Esther and they both got really enthusiastic about it as well. At one point, famous ‘villain’ was walking next to me and I told Esther how I should pretend to take a self-portrait but would conveniently include him in my pic as well.

Seriously. TVB stars are running rampant in HK. I see them everywhere! This is only my 5th month in HK and I’ve already had four sightings of them. But as I agreed with Esther and Ray, all of them don’t matter when none of them is Tony (Leung lah. Who else.). Sigh. Carina, stop keeping him to yourself already!

Noticed how Ray had a different hairstyle and I had a different outfit from earlier on. hahahaa

We then took the tram to Causeway Bay for further gifts hunting. Shortly after, Char gave me a call. The ‘sum part’ girl is in town with Alwyin and I honoured my promise of bringing her for a tasting of ‘my’ condensed milk toast. So to Tsui Wah we went. And both her and Alwyin had the reactions which I so love from converting first-timers to my beloved condensed milk toast.

Char was going on about how she was doubtful of my rave but I brushed her off, saying I was so confident of my beloved I didn’t have to defend it. She would know when she tasted it and she had to eat her words after. hahahaah

We then went to G.O.D. where she and Alwyin went gaga like how I did. She so sweetly bought me the doormat I’ve been hankering after as a Christmas gift. I went home and immediately put it down next to my new Christmas plant and took pics:

I told Char how cool my plant was. That the leaves are red when the weather’s cold and turn yellow when it’s warm and that girl, in all her directness, said, “Huh, it just means that it’s dying right!” And I was “oh.” -_-

My poor cheapo Ikea doormat was brushed aside to be placed outside the elevator instead. So now my neighbour gets to enjoy the use of it too. How considerate of me. It’s nice though cos each level only has two flats so it does kinda feel like it’s a lift to apartment feeling.

I also managed to get myself a HK mobile contract. I was good and didn’t sign up for a new phone, just a new plan. So for as little as S$46, I get to call back to SG for 500 minutes and still get another 500 minutes of local calls every month. Woot!

Tomorrow, I’m gonna deactivate my SG number and only activate it again when I’m back in SG. Hopefully, that will save me from my exorbitant bills from my SG number since I arrived in HK.

I got home to Skype with Matt and Matt was trying to ask my mum to help with something and it always amuse me endlessly seeing them trying to communicate with each other. Funny!

I also had a quick chat with Mum and she told me how Sue called her so she could bring over the Xmas pressies the girls have for me so Matt could bring to HK for me. Mum was saying how Sue told her, “Hello auntie! I’m Yi Lian’s friend. The one who looks like a Malay but is Chinese, remember?” HAHAHAHAHA

Damn spastic but a good one cos that’s exactly how my mum managed to remember her. hahahahahahahah

Am looking forward to the coming week! But not the week after. :( Darn Sue and Karen. Liars! Now I’ll be spending NY alone. :(
