Cute random stuff

I was returning home from the DVD store when I saw this cute little graffiti:

Loves

I love little characteristics like that. So random. Speaking of DVD, omg, Smart People is soooo funny!!! So blardy witty, so blardy funny. Please go watch it if you haven’t already!

And speaking of DVDs, I’m planning to just stay home for most of this weekend and just watch DVDs the weekend away. So, I’m turning 26 in a matter of 24 hours time. But before you feel sorry for me (ok, maybe just a little?), I kinda like the thought of that. Just me and myself.

And of course, the occasional chat with Matt on the phone and on Skype. Polly had also very sweetly insisted that we go for dinner on Saturday evening. I was really happy to chill on my own but she wouldn’t take ‘no’ for an answer.

But to be honest, I wasn’t exactly feeling like this a week ago. I was wallowing a little in self-pity but now that the weekend is coming, birthday weekend or not, I’m just happy to be able to sleep in and have my late breakie at Cafe O again. There’s something so comforting about weekend routines.

And also, it’s the last weekend before I’m back in SG for CNY. I really can’t wait for all the new year goodies. Pineapple tarts and egg rolls – YUM! And steamboat and bak kwa. Hmmmmm…….. I better lay off the chocolates now if I want my throat to be in tip-top condition then.

Meanwhile, Matt just told me he got me something when I return on the 21st. Chey. At first I thought he’s gonna send me something. But I can’t wait. He said he’s sure I would like it. And that’s pretty rare coming from him, being so confident about something he’s gotten me. Let’s see, eh?

I’m thinking of my lunch tomorrow and I’m actually so excited about it. Before you seriously think I’m seriously a loser, I was at the Hong Kong Fashion Week trade show for the past four days! And all I’ve been eating is the crappy food served by the cafes (and all have the same menu!!!) spread around the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre.

At least twice a week, I’ll eat my usual favourite shrimp tempura rice bowl from the City Super supermarket. I know it’s damn loser lah to eat the same thing all the time but it’s such comfort food. Oh gosh, tomorrow lunch time to come already!

Just me in my little cubicle. Hmmm. It’s simple but the thought of it is making me happy already. :)

Oz, here I come again!

Woot! With my leave approved, one flight confirmed and the other on wait list, I shall be going to Perth from 1 Feb to 8 Feb!

And Matt’s parents will be flying from Brisbane as well so erm, I’m gonna meet the family for the first time! O_o  Matt’s (very hawt) eldest bro resides in Perth with his wife so we’ll be staying with them a couple of nights and two nights in a hotel.

Thanks Che too! For helping me arrange for the SIA tix.  Taxes is S$400! Like seriously man.

Can’t wait to have Matt at the wheel again! And I’m kinda wishing we can go sky diving too! Let’s see if that happens. Yayy yayy yayy!

So my itinerary for the next month is:
21 Jan – 1 Feb: SG
1 Feb – 8 Feb: Perth
8 Feb – back to HK!
And probably that Guangzhou trip finally in mid-Feb.

Bamboo scaffolders

I was in my kitchen this morning, getting some breakie when I saw two dudes on the opposite building removing the bamboo scaffolding on the top apartment. For the longest time, I’ve been wondering how the scaffolding gets removed so now I could see for myself!

Only a rope ties them to the building. And still, we don’t know what they’re tied to, is it tight enough? Even for someone like me who has no phobia of height, this is seriously scary! But these guys are still so casual, puffing away on ciggies while removing the scaffolding.

We’re pals

)

I know it's winter but seeing my two fave flavours from B&J in my freezer makes me happy. :)

And this is what it looks like when I bring work home...

And speaking of pals, here are two pics of New Year’s day dinner with the girls. It was supposed to be a surprise for them cos I didn’t tell anyone in the group except Sue I was coming back but Sue must be a lousy conspirator, that’s why Bern and Belle (or did she?) saw through her plot.

However, still managed to supplies Pam and Daph. Yayy! But next time will collaborate with Bern instead. Since Sue sucks and also she wants to be surprised in future too.

We went to Melben and though the CLEO girls have been frequenting there since forever, it was actually my first time! The food was good but nothing like I never tried before. The only dish I would rave about is their black pepper crab. Ultra yums!

Sorry pals, the one of e 6 of us is coming!

Am loving Matt's TMNT T-shirt. Hehe.

Esther’s sorta wedding celebration

Esther, her fiance Chee Meng, Lita, Karlye, Ray and I met for Twilight and I was actually really looking forward to it.

I like it! I’ve been in the mood for chick flicks lately and I’m not sure why. Even the books I’ve been picking up are not Booker Prize materials. I’ve currently reading Chasing Harry Winston by Lauren Weisberger, the same author of The Devil Wears Prada and no, I’m not very proud of it… A while ago, I was into all the art house films and emotional drama books but right now, I find them a little emotionally exhausting. But I know I’ll go back to them very soon.

Anyhow! Lita and I were gushing about Edward later and how he can bite us. Everywhere. And Ray was like, “Maybe Matt is a vampire too! He’s very white, no?”

Then we went to this Peking restaurant right next to Jordan MTR Station that Esther recommended. It was yums! Definitely a tight competitor to Spring Deer in Mody Road.

Waiting for our table

My fascination with Hong Kong letter boxes.

Me and the bride-to-be.

Was feeling a tad miserable (probably just PMS) this afternoon and wanted to just hide away in my cosy little flat but am so glad I got out to meet the bunch cos it was much fun as usual and walking back on the Mid-Levels travelator, I definitely felt my spirits lifted. :)

Now, the week ahead! Gonna be a stressful one. Must brace myself!

My alcoholic boyfriend

I’ve never lived under one roof with so many different types of beers before and before I throw out the consumed ones, I thought I would take some pics for Matt who forgot to snap some pics of his beloved beer collection in my flat when he was here.

There were more than TWENTY varieties. And they were purchased just from the supermarkets. And were at an average of S$2 per bottle. Wow. If Matt ever does move here, I worry my boyfriend may just become the sort who asks his girlfriend to fetch him a bottle of beer from the fridge. And if he does, I’ll be sure to knock him on the head with the bottle instead…

Anyway, a first photo of the both of us with the Nikon. Pardon, my makeup-less blah face:

We used the flash but the picture didn’t get washed out like how flashes normally do in your typical digicam. Digging the Nikon! Woot!

Fear.

I don’t know how to rid myself of the fear of getting hurt by the man I love again.

The thing is, Matt has never done anything to warrant my distrust and honestly, I do trust him. He loves me in a way I had never been loved before and being in love with him gives me so much hope and faith in our future together.

But I’ve been hurt before. Thrice by the same guy. And I know he can’t be compared to Matt cos the difference in their loves for me is vastly different.

I used to be the kind of girlfriend who allowed the guy to travel with a bunch of guys without her and had no qualms when he hang out till really late with a bunch of girlfriends.

But it was also exactly in those situations that the things “he couldn’t help” happened.

So I really can’t help on my end when my paranoia arises when I can’t get Matt on the phone when he’s out till the wee hours or when he told me would be home at a certain time and he wasn’t. My mind would start to run wild and I would start to mentally prepare myself for the hurt that could possibly come my way.

I know it’s not fair on Matt, whom I know adores me deeply, but I just don’t know what to do with that fear.

However, on a good note, I know I’m improving on coping with it. But it’s not gonna be a short journey…

Kirsten’s 3rd birthday

Happy birthday Kiks!

Little Kiks has grown another year! I can still remember the day before my sis gave birth to her. We could still go out for a nice coffee shop lunch with the family at Ang Mo Kio. And now, Kirsten is all three and very much the prissy queen. But an endearing one. :)

Since Seth’s birthday (23 Jan) is so near Kiks’ (3 Jan), Sis and Raymond decide to just have one celebration every year. So since Seth is turning one this year and Kiks got to have two parties before, this year goes to Di Di.

But my family (and my friends. More on that later.) wouldn’t let little Kiks have a birthday without a cake and some pressies so we had a family celebration for her anyway. And seeing my pals adore the little ones, I invited them along. It’s lovely when you can have an occasion with both family and friends!

And the girls are so farnie. They bought random stuff for them. Yes, Di Di got to have a present too! They got Kiks a lobster float, a doc’s kit and a few other stuff that I don’t remember. Kiks was absolutely stoked and she was so happy being the socialite that she was around my friends.

Di Di was blur blur as usual. But he was so cute when he could walk around, supporting himself with items and stuff. The house was noisy and he was just walking around, playing with Kiks’ kitchen set. Think Bern got a cute pic of him.

Matt and I got Kiks a Thomas & Friends tunnel tent. She loved it and kept asking everyone to go in with her. The other day I visited her, she was inside alone with her doll and just mumbling to herself. The only downside is that she’s not very keen for Di Di to join her. Sigh, that prissy girl. Poor Di Di.

But Di Di has now learnt how to fight back, which is totally hilarious. The other day in my house, Raymond was playing with Seth using a soft toy. Kiks interrupted and pushed Seth’s hands away. Seth pushed back and Kiks did the same. Then Di Di got frustrated, let out a short scream and smacked Kiks on her head.

OMG. IT WAS SO FUNNY! I couldn’t stop laughing for a full 3o seconds. I was going, “Go di di!” Thank God Kiks still loves me.  Very impressive, Seth!

Blur Di Di

Totally loves this pic. Bern was trying to get Seth to go into the tunnel. How farnie

Bern gifted this little pouch to the girls and me. She got it custom made with BADSPY! It's the initials of the girls' and my names. How loves. :)

Thanks for celebrating Kiks’ birthday togetherly pals! Meanwhile, it’s six more days till my tech bf’s and my 26th. Too soon!!!

Mush ahead

Matt and I had a nice conversation on the phone this afternoon. Which is rare cos our great convos usually take place in person or on Skype. I was at Cafe O for my all-day breakie & called the boy while he was chilling on his own in Starbucks.

We chatted like we normally would when we are physically together with random comments here and there. I would people-watch and tell him what a hideous pair of boots I just saw and how this toddler whose mum is Chinese and dad Caucasian looks more Caucasian than Asian.

Since we just gotten together, Matt has told me his theory that the children would always look more like their mothers, which I don’t agree and Saraid had a very good theory about the whole X and Y chromosomes and stuff.

And Matt and I would always notice mixed-race children when they’re with their parents and observe who they look like more whenever we are out.

So I told Matt, “See? The little boy looks more like his dad.” Matt replied, “We’ll soon find out about ours!”

After he said that, my heart went all mush but I didn’t admit it and said instead, “Erm no, not soon?” And Matt was like, “Oh yes, not soon, yes.”

It feels very loved when you know the man you love wants you to be the mother of his kids – definitely a first for me. :)

And with much amusement, I recalled my mum’s first reaction when I told her I was dating a Caucasian. She couldn’t stop laughing and I was like ‘what the hell’ right and she finally stopped her giggling (yes, my mum still giggles at her age!) and said, “Hehe, I’m gonna have beautiful grandchildren from you then.”

I was totally like O_o! Hello mother! I just started seeing him! Parents sometimes. Scary.

Anyhow, mixed-race kids don’t necessarily turn out good-looking all the time anyway. There are always a few ‘suay’ cases. hahahaahaha
