Korean BBQ with the Makan girls!

Mmmm, I just had a thought. ‘Makan girls’ is not exactly the most glamourous term, no? Maybe we should find an alternative language to that. Like… the Bon Appetit girls? Or… Mangiarsi girls? What you reckon, ladies? Hahahaha

Mangiarsi is Italian for “to eat one’s heart out”. Not literal, I hope. O_o We’re usually not that hungry.

Anyhow! The point of this entry is that we met for our CNY-sorta dinner over Crystal Jade Korean barbecue last night and they insisted Matt joined us as they had yet to meet him so he did.

And since Matt’s bro and sis-in-law, Robs and Kristy (yes, very much to Pei Fen’s delight. ‘Kristy’ with a ‘K’ and a ‘Y’.) were in town, they joined us as well. They were in town again for five days till this Sunday from Katmandu, Nepal before they head back to Perth when we’ll join them in 1 Feb to the 8th.

It was such a delightful evening, of course with Pei Fen entertaining everyone endlessly again. I absolutely love her (husband) Ed stories. And I was happy to see Robs, Kristy and Matt really enjoying themselves as well.

Before I met the girls, I warned them I might not be myself cos I was nervous about meeting Matt’s family for the first time but I was so at ease and I think I really had the girls to thank.

Germ was seated next to Matt and being the tech geek that she is, she managed to give Matt loads of pointers, especially since they both have the Nokia E71. Which I completely plan to steal off Matt…

However, (baby) Kristy wasn’t there and I was a little sore about that. The poor little thing just had her vaccinations so it’s best she stayed home. If I had known, we should have postponed the dinner girls! But as Pei Fen said, she “ought to have some of the limelight now” instead of Kristy. hahahahahahah

Matt littered his comments for the night with loads of “alamak”, “aiyo” and “wah lau” and the girls asked him for more. And he started coming out with the, erm, more crude ones and I was so embarrassed cos now they know the kinda stuff I teach him!

In a redeeming effort, I complained to them how he loves to squeeze my pimples. In fact, he wishes that I get pimples more just so he can have the pleasure of removing them for me.

Then Kristy bursted our laughing, saying Robs was the same and that it’s a Herd family thing. Primitive love, like the baboons eh? Ugh…

Before we knew it, it was already 10pm and the restaurant’s bugging us to settle the bill. The waitress came into our room with our bill and when she came in, she stared at Matt for a little while and asked if he was on TV. Matt was confused for a while and I cracked up and PF was being his pimp and was going on, “Yes! Yes! Yes! The show about foreigners in Singapore right! Channel 8!” Oh gawd, I don’t know who to sympathise with more – the waitress or Matt.

When she returned, Matt stretched his hand out for the bill and she thought Matt wanted to shake her hand and she reached her hand out as well. It was so hilarious. But Matt went ahead to shake her hand anyway. hahaha

Then Matt, switching on his Singaporean mode, asked if we could have a discount then. Hahaha. Didn’t work though!

How I wish it was like the last time where Candice, Char and I had the luxury to stay at PF’s till 2am to chat. There were so much more to catch up on!

After the group parted, Char, Germs, Matt and I walked over to Lucky Plaza for cabs and I was on the cab when I saw PF’s and Germs’ really sweet msges about Matt and I. Aw, it’s always great when your friends are genuinely happy for you.

Matt was really happy to meet this group of girls too. In the cab, he was telling Char and I that we should get PF drunk to see more of her antics. And Char and I were like, “she’s just gonna be more violent!” which I guess, won’t be a good idea for our well-being. hahahahaha

Till the next time girls! And definitely again on Germs’ wedding. :)
