This pic is super cute and hilarious! Stupid Ed says it looks like me but I reckon it’s just the dark circles.

About the other half

I haven’t done a meme on this blog before so instead of being completely narcissistic, I shall attempt one on Matt. Not sure if it’s all correct – cut me some slack, we’ve only been together for five months!

1. He’s sitting in front of the TV, what is on the screen?
A rugby match or anything with a fighting scene. It doesn’t matter what show or storyline it is, as long there’re two blokes fighting, he’s watching it. (Update: The Simpsons and Futurama too.)

2. You’re out to eat; what kind of dressing does he get on his salad?
Wah, don’t know man. But since he’s such a health nut, prob a dressing that’s olive oil-based and not cream based. Balsamic vinegar? French? Italian? (Update: It is balsamic vinegar. yayy)

3. What’s one food he doesn’t like?
Durians. Hahahaahhaaha and ikan bilis. And Malay food, he finds them too unhealthy but I love all of the above!

4. You go out to the bar. What does he order?
Beer lah, what else. He likes his Aussie beer.

5. Where did he go to high school?
Fern something. Dunno lah, somewhere in Brisbane.

6. What size shoe does he wear?
8 or 8.5? He has small feet, hehe, hope he doesn’t kill me for saying that.

7. If he was to collect anything, what would it be?
Toy guns or maybe real guns, if he can.

8. What is his favorite type of sandwich?
Cold cut trio from Subway? He loves his Subway.

9. What would this person eat every day if he could?
Subway lor. Very exciting right.

10. What is his favourite cereal?
Hmmm, he eats a few. He likes his Weet Bit, Special K and this other one that he eats which I don’t remember the name but will know when I see the box. (Update: Nutri-Grain! And no, he doesn’t like Special K. Hmph.)

11. What would he never wear?
Winter scarves and a lot of other things. That boy’s dressing is too typical. Other than his work attire, he’s in singlets/T-shirts and boardies. Jeans, sometimes, if I’m lucky.

12. What is his favourite sports team?
I’m not sure, the Australian rugby team? (Update: Yep it is! The Wallabies.)

13. Who will he vote for?
The ‘Wear Singlets and Boardies to Work Everyday” association.

14. Who is his best friend?
Me? I hope? hahahaahha (Update: Yayy, it’s me!)

15. What is something you do that he wishes you wouldn’t do?
Staying up late, eating unhealthily, not exercising, shopping so much. There’re a lot of things he wishes I wouldn’t do. (Update: He said being as such is me and he loves me for me so woot! That means, I can continue to stay up late and bother his sleep, be a slob and eat unhealthy food and not work out and most importantly, continue to shop, shop, shop! Woot!)

16. How many cities/countries has he lived in?
Brisbane and Singapore. Hopefully Hong Kong real soon.

17. What is his heritage?
Erm, Caucasian? Ok ok, I know he has Italian, Scottish, English and Irish blood in him. Greek too, I think…

18. You bake him a cake for his birthday; what kind of cake?
I haven’t baked him a cake before but I love baking so I would be happy to try to bake him his fave Oreo Cheesecake.

19. Did he play sports in high school?
Erm, like A LOT? He used to surf, play golf, run long distance, rugby and yes, all these while in high school. (Update: he just told me he played tennis, cricket, baseball, swam as well. Siao one, that guy.)

20. What could he spend hours doing?
Sleep, visit every beach in the world, go to the gym, play with his toy helicopter and Kirsten.

:/

So, the partying didn’t happen with BB, due to circumstances. :(

And I’ve been feeling weird since Thursday… Probably a mix of loneliness and stress but the result is just this weird sense of emptiness. But it’s only been three days so hopefully the feeling will go away. I’m increasingly missing my friends, Kirsten, Seth, Mum and Matt and even reading about Kiks’ bullying her baby brother made me miss them both so much. I can imagine Kiks and her signature whining and bossiness while poor little Clueless Seth just allowed himself be bullied by his big sis.

Yesterday, I had this persistent unhappiness I couldn’t shake. I lost my child-like excitement about discovering new places even though I was going around the city for my job yesterday. Knowing myself, I know that enthusiasm would return but I’m not sure when. Maybe it’s just the knowledge Friday and the weekend is here again.

Who isn’t a big fan of Fridays and weekends but being quite alone in HK, it’s not the same anymore. I got home and made dinner and sat down at the comp by 9.30pm, the time Matt said he would be home. I waited for 20 minutes and he called to say he was going for a quick beer. I was disappointed but know I shouldn’t deprive him of his time with his friends so I told him to have fun and he said he would have a quick 30-minute beer and then head home but 11.30pm rolled around and I was tired of waiting so I texted him to say I was gonna snooze.

I fell asleep by midnight and the problem about falling asleep when I’m unhappy is nightmares. I woke up with a jolt at 2.30am and reached for my mobile to see a text from Matt. Emo-me sent him a long reply and returned to slumber. When I got up today at 8.30am, I was much better emotionally and called him at work. I’m no longer upset. :) but as I was telling Karen on MSN, there’s just this emptiness that still couldn’t be shaken.

On a brighter note, I received (one of) the sweetest gifts from my pals! They customised me a calendar from Sept 08 to Aug 09 with ‘special’ dates they created themselves like “Adopt a Squarrel Day” and “Say ‘whatevs’ to people who piss you off this week” and they actually managed to get my family’s birthdays and anniversaries as well! I found out Molely actually asked Sis on Facebook for dates. Thanks Sis! Feeling the love. Muacks. There was also a month filled with pics of Kiks and Seth and I couldn’t stop grinning to myself as I went through it in the office, after returning from a tiring afternoon out.

There were just some dates with comments that left me laughing out loud. Like Seth’s birthday, it says, “It’s Seth’s birthday! Send a gift and big bite from HK!” and Matt’s is “It’s Matt’s birthday! Send him a nekkid picture of yourself!” hahhaahahahahahahahaha. My spastic friends. And yes, my birthday says, “It’s Sue’s birthday. Send her a big pressie from HK! And oh, it’s your birthday too.” -_-

Sorry I hadn’t snap pics. Next week, I promise! I packed the calendar into my box of belongings for the movers to move to the new office next week. It’s totally funny and I’m seriously feeling the love.

I also received good news from a good friend and her engagement. Totally sweet proposal and damn nice ring! Big and well-cut. I like the four prongs instead of the typical six too. Congrats G!!!

Speaking of engagements, this must be the month of engagements! I’ve came upon so many other engagements on Facebook and Angel also mentioned two of her good friends just got engaged. And I also found out the ex proposed to the girl he cheated with. I think they’re best staying with each other so I’m happy for him! For some reason, I just find it completely funny.

Yayy, everyone’s getting married! Happy, happy.

Mum was telling me about the happenings when Matt’s parents were staying with them. She was telling me on Skype while I was laughing away. She told me how she brought Matt’s mum to the wet market with her and the auntie at one of the stalls was telling my mum, “hey, that ang moh lady keep staring as us” and my mum was like “she’s my friend ok!” hahahahaahahahahaahaha

And when Matt’s mum asked where she could get a trim, my mum brought her to her usual salon. And all this while, my mum could barely speak English while Matt’s mum doesn’t know a word of Mandarin! It’s super hilarious.

On the day of their departure, my folks sent them off at the airport and not before my dad played tour guide and brought them to all three airport terminals and bought them a Japanese teppanyaki dinner. I imagined my folks and Matt’s, four oldies, having dinner together and somehow, I couldn’t stop laughing from the imagination.

Hmmm, the power of positive thinking. Writing about all these funny stuff has lifted my mood. :)

Now, to look forward to Monday’s paintball session with the colleagues (yes, the movers move office for us while we have a yum cha lunch and play paintball on company’s account. how great is that!) and Karen coming next weekend!

Love, love. XOXO
