So I finally get to go to work today! Hee. It was such a scenic route to work. Angel and I took a short cab ride to Wan Chai Ferry Terminal and took the ferry to Kowloon. From there, we went past Lane Crawford and walked through all the fancy brands to get to work at Harbour City.
I was such a tourist, even when it was going to work. It was my first time on the ferry. Only about S$0.40 per way! How cheap is that! I need to get the Octopus card, speaking of which… For the uninitiated (like I was till a few hours ago), the Octopus card is like our ez-link card. I was speaking to my British colleague Amy and she was telling me London called their card the Oyster. Haha, how odd.
First day and already two assignments and most of the day were spent in orientation where four different colleagues spent an average of 90 minutes each explaining to me about WGSN and the nature of the business (to explain it easily, it’s exactly like the Bloomberg for fashion).
By the end of the second colleague, I was truly overwhelmed with information and wanted to just zone out but it was lunchtime and I was famished (as usual) but since Joyce (it’s like Club 21 in Singapore) was having a massive sale on their shoes (70% off each pair. Buy 2 pairs and get additional 10% or 4 pairs and get additional 20%), it was of course shoe shopping before food. The brands that were on sale include Louboutin, London Sole, Repetto, Lanvin, Chloe and they were all from the S/S ’08 collection! Very current for the kind of discounts they were giving!
I really fancied a pair of sandals and it was just S$300 plus after discount but I had to be very strict on myself, having just arrived in HK, I shouldn’t be spending money on shopping. :( Angel and I then walked to On Pedder and I saw the coolest Costume National handbag and at S$800 plus, I was honestly close to getting it. I really did love it but thank god the make of the bag buckle was kind bad, I managed to continue to be good. :)

Angel then bought me ‘introduction’ lunch and then I went back to the office to go through another two more sessions of orientation with two different colleagues. It was nice to come out of the meeting room every now and then to see I’d received a text from Matt. :) Email and site access got set up and I finally had Internet access.
One of the biggest part I love about working in the office that I’m working in now?

The fantastic, picture-perfect view. And that’s not the view from my desk. The angle is way better from where I’m seated. And I honestly think my desk has the best view in the house. Need a little inspiration? Just look out and chill!
I knocked off at 6:50pm. Woot! One of the earliest in the entire course of my career! I took the ferry back to Wan Chai with Amy and we parted after we arrived. I went to grab dinner, which sucked, and the latest copy of Lucky. After that, I tried to find my way to go back home without taking a cab cos that would be too easy! I looked at every bus route in the bus terminal, gave up and went to the concierge at the nearest hotel and took the bus the very friendly dude at the counter advised me to.
A car ride takes three minutes on a smooth traffic day to get to Angel’s place and the bus took me 20 minutes!! And seriously, what’s with HK drivers? DO THEY HAVE TO BLOODY JERK WHEN THEY DRIVE?! I attempted to flip through Lucky while on the bus and by the time I alighted (which was still a 10-min walk from home. Damnit!), I was woozy and close to barfing my gross dinner out.
Went home, took a shower, saw the sight below and feel way better. :)
