A couple of weeks ago, Matt suggested we go on a weekend getaway at a local hotel and told me to find one of my liking. His only criteria is that the hotel must have yummy breakie (how was I supposed to know that right?! Anyhow, he was happy with the breakie spread). I love my boutique hotels and was contemplating the relatively new Naumi but when I checked out the prices, it was $300 a night, compared to the weekend packages that Ritz Carlton has to offer at $350 and above.
Matt and I decided on the relax package which, at $380, entitles us to breakie for two and 45-min massages for two. A really good deal, as a night there normally cost at least $500 (then again, it did come up to that, after adding service charge and tax). And to sweeten the package, there were fireworks right outside our window as well – thanks to the National Day parade rehearsal.
When the masseuses came by our room at 7pm, the rugby match that Matt was watching on Australia Network was halfway through and he wanted to watch it during the massage, much to my chagrin. There were also sporadic fireworks during that short time and with the massage, rugby match and fireworks, I’ll have to say Matt was pretty much in bliss. It would have been perfect for me if the TV was off but ah well, boys will be boys.
Matt likes how well-maintained the iron was (yes, that boy irons everything that he wears before he heads out) and that the bathtub comes complete with a cushion for the head. Very thoughtful. I like the powerful hairdryer and how generous the hotel is with towels. Four of every kind! Even the bathrobes. I love my fresh towels. However, there was only one pair of bedroom slippers! Aren’t there supposed to be two?
Other than heading out to grab food, we pretty much cooped ourselves up in the room, just lounging, chatting, reading, channel-surfing and taking as many as three milk baths. The view was just magnetic. We sat on the couch next to the window, reading. But I ended up staring out half the time. I was brushing my teeth in the morning, looking out of the window in the bathroom and thinking, “If only I can brush my teeth to this view every morning.”
Nice.
